Zen Places – Paradise Beach Resort Hotel Zanzibar

We left on a cold snowy day, on a strong blizzard dreaming of a sunny beach, cold cocktails, and tropical settings. Little did we know the journey will not turn out to be as fast and easy as we were expecting it to be.

After e long delay in Dubai, being stuck on land because of a sand storm for many hours, having to get in the airplane and wait another 3 hours before take off, we arrived in Zanzibar a little concerned because we did not know if someone would be still waiting to take us at the hotel. To our surprise, seven hours later than the time I had communicated to the hotel, someone was still there, smiling, patiently waiting with a name card in hand.

Getting from the airport to the hotel took just less than one hour but it sure did not feel so long since all the time I was absorbed by everything that was going on outside: the colors, the people, the crowded markets, the filled Dalla – Dallas, nature. We were both tired, my boyfriend had a cold and we could not wait to get to our final destination and have everything solved in order to relax.

The first thing we saw when getting off of the car a little before 2 pm was Anouk’s bright wide smile. I had communicated with her via email before our trip and she was waiting for us, having all our details. We were surprised that she asked us to leave our luggage at the reception desk and she rushed us at lunch, just to get there in time for us to eat. Everything was taken care of and we only had to switch to relaxation mode. And that is how all the next 10 days went like.

The Paradise Beach Resort was the perfect place to discover Zanzibar: the incredibly friendly people, the great New Year’s Eve Party, the delicious food, our bungalow overlooking the ocean and the pool, the Jetty bar, the wellness center where you could get also henna tattoos, the hammocks by the beach.

Summing everything up, the resort is a place to remember and a Zen Place I’m happy to have on my list!
